Tell me some things I should know about these sections to make it easier for me to get a higher score.

do you have the act prep booklet?? If so take the practice test in it then on the answers you get wrong flip to the back of the practice test and see why you missed them and what you did wrong on that question. If you keep doing the practice tests until you get the information in the question it should become easier. In writing i would suggest looking up good written reports online and see what all they have in them compared to what you write on a written report. You can do this on ACT.org. They have sample reports that are both good and bad.
