I can't think of a single Dead song that I don't love, but my favorites off the top of my head would have to be Dark Star, Black Peter, Scarlet Begonias > Fire on the Mountain (these two are usually played with one going into the other live. Don't think I've ever heard them play them separate), Ripple, New Speedway Boogie, Easy Wind, Bertha, Deal, Stagger Lee, Cryptical > The Other One, Truckin, Mexicali Blues, Turn on your lovelight, Althea, Franklin's Tower, Viola lee blues, Good Morning Little School Girl, China Cat Sunflower, Friend of the Devil and I'm just gonna stop at this point because I could just list everyone of their songs. Also the Dead are notorious for playing a lot of covers and you should really just download a whole bunch of their live sets.There are a ton of the over 2,000 shows the dead played on www.archives.org available free for download. They let anyone tape their shows and as long as you didn't sell the bootlegged material it is completely legal to distribute.
