Girls: Is this a good idea to make my own tinted moisturizer?

What I do it take on of my sponges, wipe it on my cream foundation, then put some lotion on it and mix it with my finger.

Is there a better way to do this? Do you know how much foundation should be to how much lotion? And lastly, does this process take away from the moisturizer plain?
