Girls: if you were in my situation would you give this guy a chance?

So i've known this guy for 5 years now and throughout the 5 years i always had a crush on him. He had a girlfriend for most of the part and when he didn't he was out being a slut. We were really close like he'd call me everynight and we'd talk for hours but at the same time he treated me like crap. Maybe not on purpose but the only place we ever hang out is in his car we've never been out in public together except for school. It was like he was embarrased to be seen with me. He'd also ALWAYS say things and never follow through. I told him how it made me feel and he would deny it but do nothing to change it. Then one night we had sex and everything changed after that. He stopped calling as much. Maybe once every two weeks and we'd only talk for ten minutes now. I moved cities a while ago and a couple months ago i texted him and finally told him i liked him and how i felt. He totally ignored me. And it really hurt me since we've been friends for so long that he didn't have the decency to text or call back. Now i'm back in the same city as him its been 5 months since the text and now he says he wants to be with me. I mean i still really like him but i can't forget all the ways he hurt me.
