My girlfriend and I have been together for 2 years, and I haven't had a car. At first I wasn't working because I was in college and then I realize I had to have money for girlfriend expenses so I got a job 8 months after we got together. I still don't have a car even though I have a job because I got an apartment first because I needed my space. Now I am looking for a car but she told me that she is upset because I didn't have a car for 2 years and that I should have a car because I'm the guy.
I think that is wrong to say after I have been working so hard to make it easier on her. I drive her sometimes, I pay for gas, food (always), and movies (always). I feel like that is a major put down and stereotypical because it makes me feel like less than a "real man." But I have always been a gentleman and taken the bus just to meet her somewhere. (and I only live 10 miles away). I've been trying so hard though! What should I think about this?
