Girlfriend upset because I don't have a car?

My girlfriend and I have been together for 2 years, and I haven't had a car. At first I wasn't working because I was in college and then I realize I had to have money for girlfriend expenses so I got a job 8 months after we got together. I still don't have a car even though I have a job because I got an apartment first because I needed my space. Now I am looking for a car but she told me that she is upset because I didn't have a car for 2 years and that I should have a car because I'm the guy.
I think that is wrong to say after I have been working so hard to make it easier on her. I drive her sometimes, I pay for gas, food (always), and movies (always). I feel like that is a major put down and stereotypical because it makes me feel like less than a "real man." But I have always been a gentleman and taken the bus just to meet her somewhere. (and I only live 10 miles away). I've been trying so hard though! What should I think about this?

I think you should call her out on her attitude. That is simply bratty of her to be like that. She should be proud that you are progressing in life, that you even have a job, that you have your own place, and that you do things for her. She sounds very ungrateful for the things you do for her and I think it is time you pointed this out to her.
