Has any girl successfully gone backpacking around India on their own?

Good idea or wouldn't recommend?

I dont want to go trekking and I really dont want to have to join a tour group and I can't find anyone to come with me.

Any experiences any girl can share would be great.

Why would you want to go alone? If it was in a few years time I'd love to join you.

But I have heard stories of girls being mugged, raped, murdered etc etc whilst backpacking......just be carefull,

Matt....x

dont go alone, even though most indians are nice, you come across the wrong type and your dead!

yeah, you just listen to randy...just last week we recieved a report about some girl in Peru....crazy story....unfortunatly for you i am not allowed to disclose any information regarding that little scenario...but believe me when i say this... if i was it would have set u straight

india maybe not the best idea, but hey man im goin around the Highlands of Scotland by myself and they are more dangerous lol just have fun and be aware of your surroundins and always map out chck points with people here and that way if you dont call them they will know b/w the two places you should be should anything go wrong, but normally if you dont act scared, no one will f*ck with you. just blend in with the culture as best as you can and dont look touristi

that would be brave as fuck, india is merely like a 3rd world nation with the most harshest of poverty and slums, I wouldnt go there on my own, especially backpacking, too many issues regards to crime, poverty, corrupt civilisation

I have although been to the USA backpacking by myself, its generally cool, you do your own shit and meet all sorts of people who are very friendly and delighted to hear your brit accent but india, its almost like going into mexico on your own from the USA its mass transit and innercity transportation is rather bad and accommodating conditions are pretty nasty with mosquitos and all sorts of nasty insects

Im not a girl, but I would think long and hard about goin 2 a strane place by yrself.

Being in the Force for over 20 years, I can tell you 100s of girls I've known that have been raped, walking alone in India. You should go with your parent. We don't need you to be on a file down at the office, we've got enough on the plate with this election, so please, ask more sensible questions, and don't get raped in India.

I know and have met a lot of girls who have travelled to india alone , it is intimidating but most have found it ok , but most join other travellers and travel with them because its convenient to do that , it is very common for single travellers to have the back packs stolen because at some point when alone you have to leave it say when on a train and you need to use the loo, you don't want to take it with you or when asleep , that why 3/4 people travelling together is better , but when you get to any particular destinations you can split or explore on your own , suggest Goa as a start or Bombay , loads independent travellers there, hth

You don't need to go anywhere in the World alone. EVER! I would go to some adventure websites and look at their message boards and find a group of people who are going and try to get to know them and some of their contact information to leave behind with family and friends. Watch the show Locked Up Abroad on Nat Geo or History Channel. You have to abide by another countries rules and laws when your on a Luxury cruise ship and if you were to be hurt or raped or worse on a ship, then the trials and witnesses would have to be flown to the country the ship is registered from. My point is, you need to carry your back up with you. It is sad but this isn't 1967 anymore and it just isn't wise to strike out alone in your own neighborhood much less this country and especially a third world country. If I could go with you I would. Just have fun, be smart, and know that there are some places in India etc that women are not allowed or it is frowned upon. If you are an American, it would exacerbate the situation.
