HELL IT'S ABOUT DANG TIME!

Watch this be some sort of epic troll when it comes out.

So WB going to work on this film? Ok, I'm not worry.
WB knows how to keep a movie faithful to the score its base on.

Oh ppl, please, please, please, try to keep this in mind...THIS IS AN ADAPTATION FILM.
That doesn't mean frame by frame, or word by word like the original.
So, don't be surprise once you see some changes.

I think this ADAPTATION film will get the feel from the original.

Uh, what? These are very vague details and from the sounRAB of it it's either going to be an animated film like so many anime get or a film with Japanese actors. Nothing to suggest this is another case of some Hollywood schmuck saying 'KiRAB like teh animooz!'. It even says the registered URL redirects you to WB Japan.

Bah! You beat me to it! XD

Uh... every indication is that this'll be a Japanese production. No American company in its right mind would touch Gintama with a ten foot neo armstrong cyclone jet armstrong cannon. It's too obscure here, and too Japanese to adapt without loosing a good chunk of the humor. Not to mention it's smart. It has been well proven that American's don't like smart things.

And, for the record, there's a mighty big difference between an adaptation, and a complete and utter bastardization of something.

Luckily, Gintama's fairly flexable so it can transition pretty smoothly to live action (if it is live action - personally I'd like to see a live action/animation corabo of epic crack and win). Kung Fu Hustle is evidence of this.

But, it said the word adaptation. That doesn't mean only for Live-action films you know.
I just don't want ppl complaining, “They change a lot of things” or “How come its not 100% like the original?”.

If the movie is bad, fine. I just don't many to hear ppl complaining why some parts were change.

Um... are you familiar with Gintama? The manga is excellent, but it's anime adaptation is off the charts. Sunrise does change things up, they usually add things in and it's almost always as funny as the source material. Gintama filler at it's worst is mildly amusing. At it's best, it can cause fits of violent laughter that send one falling out of ones chair.

If this is an animated movie we have absolutely nothing to worry about and everything to look foreward to.

If it's live action, it really all comes down to how they adapt it. As I said, it can be adapted. With the right premise, and the right cast, it'd be fine with or without a big budget production. Gintama's basically a sitcom, so there's a lot of wiggle room for them to get around the more outrageous and buget consuming aspects of the series. BUT there's not a lot of wiggle room when it comes to characterization - ultimately it's the characters that make the series.

Really, the biggest fear is that everyone will be out of character. The plot could completely suck, but so long as everyone's in character, it's still Gintama.

It is about time. Normally I wouldn't care much about manga-based anime getting movies, but Gintama filler comedy is just as awesome as Gintama canon comedy, and it's hard to tell apart. So, Crunchyroll, want to try simulcasting a movie?

Ah! According to this, it's animated! http://community.livejournal.com/weeklyjump/144010.html?view=3169674

Okay, time to start saving monies to fly to Japan... >.>

Oh this makes me happy for two reasons.

1. It's Gintama finally getting a movie after years of Sunrise trolling the fans (in humor of course)

2. I can't even remeraber the last shounen manga to get a movie that wasn't one of the big 3 (Naruto, Bleach, One Piece). And I never thought it would be Gintama. I thought it would at least be Reborn or D. Gray Man but not Gintama.

Well damn,
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2009-11-02/gintama-haruhi-suzumiya-films-listed-for-2010

It really is a retelling of Benizakura. That means the bottom video actually happened.

A little lie was in fact born into a truth.

(I still love that line. "Lolicon ja nai, feministo desu.")

Sunrise knows how to really fool people. It's like announcing something ridiculous on April Fool's that turns out to be true. Oh well. It will still be epic. Seriously, Crunchyroll, I bet everyone who saw that trailer at the end of the last episode is hoping you get into simulcasting movies for this.
