Hey. I'm currently working on a project, involving my art and a texture in GIMP.
See, I accidentally achieved this one result while working on my project, that looks like this: http://img826.imageshack.us/img826/5233/psyplaidpossiblebg4.png The result I achieved was getting the character render to sort of "blend" in with the texture, like taking on the texture's characteristics. My problem is, because this effect was achieved by accident, I can't seem to achieve that same effect again. I remember assembling the picture using these three pieces as layers: Firs this, http://img512.imageshack.us/img512/9016/textureg.png , then this, http://img221.imageshack.us/img221/3166/psyplaidstripes.png and setting the layer mode to "Burn", so the next step would like something similar to this: http://img688.imageshack.us/img688/6456/psyplaidpossiblebg3.png . Then after that, I remember applying this handmade render on top of it, and I think setting the layer mode to "Hard Light": http://img594.imageshack.us/img594/6450/psyrideplaid5.png . And that's how I got this: http://img826.imageshack.us/img826/5233/psyplaidpossiblebg4.png ,from what I remember. But now...after trying to repeat the same result again, and pretty sure I'm following the same steps I think, I get this undesired result after applying the render and setting it to "Hard Light": http://img545.imageshack.us/img545/5476/messup.png .
I don't get it, what gives? I'm confused, and wish I had saved the original "Undo History" steps so I could re-follow them the same way for a second time. Again, the first result that I'm looking for again, I got accidentally...and GIMP is known for crashing and freezing quite a bit. I've tried everything, including anchoring the layer and applying new layers, or trying to set the layer mode on the single layer, but it's not working at all to get the same effect. I just want the background's texture to mesh in with the character render the same way I got it accidentally the first time around.
Can anyone help me please, if they know how to achieve this desired result and effect from looking at my supplied links and reading over my post here? It'd really mean a lot to me.
Ten points for the best answer.
Please help, if you can.
