Gilles VCR38GT failure

Just got in touch with the people at Gilles. They're in the process of gathering info right now... but I was surprised at how fast they got back to me. Will keep everyone posted.

Sorry to hear about your drop.

I've got the same setup on my S4Rs and am very impressed with Gilles design and quality.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

If the company is reputable, they'll want to know what happened to their product and work something out for you.

I had personal experience with this. I low sided my ZX-10R a while ago (ended up getting the thing totaled by insurance.) I had the Muzzy no cut frame sliders on it. Well, when the bike fell, the slider instantly pulled out of the bracket providing zero benefit. Rob Muzzy got wind of this and asked me to send back the damaged parts on their dime. After they looked at what happened, a change was made and an update kit was sent out to customers who already had the frame sliders. The fix was longer bolts that threaded into the bracket with a lock nut securing the bolt to the bracket. They sent me replacement parts for damaged parts of the frame slider along with the updated parts free of charge for cooperating with them.

News... I've been in touch with the R&D department, specifically Ben, and we've come to a conclusion that this was really my fault.

I had removed the carbon heel guard and the mounting bracket when I had a hard time pivoting when I was trackside and trying to get off the bike.. I did not know that it was that important. Lesson learned...

I have to say that Gilles was extrememly professional through out the whole process and really patient with me, even though I was pissed at the whole time.
