Getting Messages from my nokia nuron?

i just got a nokia nuron and i love it but i recently realized that nothing happens when i get a message i have to go alll the way to my inbox when i first got it it showed a little envolope in the corner and now it doesn't even show that it also used to when i clicked out of everything and when to the home screen IM SO MAD I CANT EVEN SEE WHEN I GET A MESSAGE PLLLLEEEAAASSSEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!HELP
