Getting into Astronomy- What do I need?

I've always been fascinated by the stars, the moon and the planets. I'm an avid star gazer, but now I'm now ready to take it the next step. I know I'll need to buy a telescope, but what else would I need to really enhance my experience watching the stars? Any experts out there than can help me out?

Study the background information. I recommend an introductory class in astronomy; not only will it teach you the basics but also provide you with a starting point for all kinds of activities, new ideas, and further education. If you want to be a good geek, learning some spherical astronomy, astrodynamics and orbital mechanics as well as being able to calculate your own ephemeris won't hurt. In general, the more physic and maths you have, the better, but that applies to pretty much anything in life, not just astronomy.

Firstly buy some books for basics of astronomy.spend a few years in gathering information and knowledge Than when you think you know sufficient things then buy a telescope and start with a small one and keep increasing the knowledge and the size of your telescope. The most important thing you should have is Passion and Love for astronomy.
