getting frustrated at trying to setup a yahoo email account on my htc desire?

I already have set in my yahoo option to allow my email to be popped. but each time I enter my email account and password it get the same answer "cannot connect to mail server to verify your account information. your server is not responding.". i have managed to setup my gmail account no problem but this is really starting to annoy me.
