Getting a cardioo workout on a bike - do you have to sprint pedal?

Im about to go bike 10 mile and its upill/downhill there and back half n half, so do i need to be pushing myself the whole way, like hard in order to get a good workout or can i just go at a pretty fast/decent pace that i can maintain and that will be good?
