Getting a car loan with a cosigner?

I want to get a 2005 jeep that's 10k plus a trade in which im upside down on by like 3 grand so total im thinking like 14k.... I have a full time job but not enough credit, so they want a cosigner. Can my cosigner have average credit and a full time job? He got denied at KIA but now I'm going through a credit union. They denied him because he was late on a timeshare payment but had proof he paid. I also have nothing down, but can handle a big payment. Will my cosigner pass?
 
You are already upside down on one vehicle. Don't make that mistake again. No cosigner. Wait until you can pay for a vehicle in full. You are digging yourself, and your friend, into a nasty debt hole that you will regret.
 
Telling you the same thing my father told me: When you can afford to buy a car on your own without depending one anyone else, then you have a car and you have a life.
