Get the Samsung Rogue without data plan?

So, I understand you cannot get the Samsung Rogue through Verizon without the data plan and you can't just buy the unlocked phone off of ebay and use it because they don't use SIM cards. So, would the only way I'd be able to get it and have it work without the data is get it full price from Verizon? Or how would I? I want to be as cheap as possible.

Well, no matter how you go about it...if you activate the Rogue on Verizon's network, a data plan WILL BE required--no exceptions.

Please keep in mind the data plans are NOT that expensive. Granted $9.99 for 25MB sounds expensive, but when they started offering this new plan...I called them up and added it! Given you want the rogue, you will want to use data at some point. $1.99 per megabyte is expensive...I accumulated 7MB from download 2 games. $7x2=$14...the data plan has already paid for itself...and now I can use data more!

And theres no other way?
I understand it's cheap but my father who is paying for it is talking about "hacking" somehow, which I said no to. And he refuses to just pay 10 bucks a month for it. But it is true, no way to get the phone off of ebay and use the plan on it without data?

So, I got my line added on to another plan (my father's) and since he had his fiasco plan already handy, he got the EnV 2 planning on giving it to me until he could get the Rogue and "hack it". Now since you've informed me it will be a failure anyway, I want to try buying it myself and paying myself, would I be able to upgrade without extra charge besides the data charges to the Rogue? Stupid question, I should do my research but Verizon is a little complex for me and I have problems with the way they set up their site.

I am not sure I understand the question you want to upgrade the Env2 you just got to the Rogue? If that is correct, you can update it when the contract for that line is up, or for the "New every 2" deal that Verizon has, but you may have to pay upgrade charges or whatever they may be called.

You pay upgrade fees whenever you upgrade based on an approval basis.

For example, if you were to upgrade within 8-11 months after previously upgrading...but a rep feels nice, they can grant an early upgrade...which forfeits your upgrade credit and charges you an upgrade fee of $25. If you get a REALLY nice rep, they may credit the upgrade fee. If you are eligible for an annual upgrade, you may not have to pay the upgrade fee. If you're on a plan not eligible for annual upgrade, you will need to pay the fee, in addition to needing a rep to approve this type of transaction.

Dude, there was more annual upgrade fee's for the fee of being the fee... wow.. reminds me of the old WAMU Commercials when the peope went into the back for stuff and got fee's for using a pen and stuff.. funny funny... but I think I got it now, thank you for educating me oh great Nick:)
