Get the Cingular 8125 or wait for the Hermes?

I know theres tons of threads regarding this. but i don't think any of the threads really match my objectives

Okay, my verizon contract ends on the 13th of july and thats when i need to transfer over. I found that cingular is the cheapest, and by cheap i need a $30 plan, i'm currently paying $50? for verizon right now. I don't plan on getting any data plans, but i was curious if you guys knew if there was any way to use a proxy wap similiar to verizon's hopke.net that way i can save some cost on the browsing the internet.

So heres my dilemma, cost is a big issue for me (i'm a poor college student living off loans) and i would like to get the lastest gaget if possible. Since i don't think i'll ever get hermes without a contract, i'll need to wait. Does my opportunity cost for waiting out for hermes and using skype at home to make calls beats just buying the 8125 now? Should i just get the 8125 since i won't be utilizing the 3g network? I would like to get the best phone possible since i'll most likely have the contract for 2 years.

the reason why i want the hermes is, so i can play the psx emulated games on my ppc and have great battery life (::drool:: 6-7 hours movie, 13 hours mp3). other than that the 8125 should be able to handle all the apps i want.. main purpose for me getting the phone is so i can read, watch movies, play it as a mp3, organizer, word documents, excel and various games that come along for the ppc.

anyways, i think my reasons are very childish, but coming from the vx9800, i can't get enough of the all-in-one phone capabilities

also, do you guys think that the initial release of the hermes with the contract from cingular will drive the price down to around $300? how much did the 8125 cost when it first came out with a 2 year contract?

thanks in advance
