Get rid of desktop images on a Mac?

Hi, i have a Mac with Leopard 10.5. I've downloaded some stuff, like frostwire and videora ipod touch converter, but they appear on the desktop, how can i move them some ware off the desktop and into another place.
 
just drag them to another folder, if their like the installer for the program, then you dont need them anymore so you can delete them then, if you dont want to delete them, move them to another folder like
Start > ______(your user name(ex:john)) > Downloads
select and drag..... simple no?
