Get HTC Desire or wait ?

I've found a good deal for the HTC Desire but am nervous about taking the risk on buying it without seeing any reviews . I just don't want to be stuck with a contract if the phone's no good , but seeing the specs I can only hope for reviews similar to the Nexus One and the Legend . I want to order soon to get the first lot in the UK - any ideas if I should order now or wait a bit longer in case the reviews are terrible ?
