gestational diabetes test?

I go in on Monday for my gestational diabetes test. But for the life of me I can't remember if they told me if I couldn't eat or drink before hand.
So normally can you eat or drink.. or how long before the test do you have to fast?
My test isn't until 2 tomorrow afternoon. So there is no way I can last that long with out a little something to eat.
I'll probably call my doc first thing in the morning.

Just don't eat anything with a lot of sugar in it. You can fast if you want but it's not totally necessary. Although, if you have to go back in for the 3 hour.. you will have to fast.

You have to fast. You cant eat anything starting midnight of the day you take your test. They will give you a drink with glucose then check your sugar. If you eat anything it will interfere with the test.

do not eat anything after midnight. you can however have water if needed. you can not eat until the test is over with! take someone with you if you are able too!

All this test is is you go and drink a really sugary orange liquid and you have to stay there and wait for an hour then they draw blood. You can eat and drink before hand.

You need to call your doctor's office Monday morning, because different doctor's have different guidelines.

For the 1-hr. test, some doctor's say its ok to eat a light breakfast, and some would rather you didn't eat anything at all. But just be aware that most women DO end up failing the 1-hr test...its really a joke. I always failed the 1-hr but passed my 3-hr. so don't freak out if you do.

Failing the 1-hr. test means you have to take the 3-hr. glucose test, in which you will NOT be able to eat anything prior to the test.

you cannot eat or drink anything, it takes normally 2-21/2 hours for the test to come back.

I see the 1st person gave the correct answer but got 3 thumbs down for it. I had my test (UK) and could not eat or drink anything from midnight aside from water, not nothing with low sugar, nothing at all. They will take 1st bloods, give you a glucose drink (hence no sugar before hand) and then 2 hrs later, take more bloods. My test was scheduled for 9am tho, but I doubt it makes a difference.

Not sure if they do it different in differnt areas, I would be suprised to think so.
