German Shepherd Pup Pure breed?

One of my friends sent me a male GERMAN SHEPHERD pup 6 weeks with vaccination record. He claims he has the parents of this pup (also sent pics).Also claims these are as good as Pedigreed, but without any papers. I have had him for like 2 days now. I want to know if he is Pure Breed or not. How can I tell?
