Doc said I have Acid Reflux but I've never talked to anyone with same symptoms. A year or two ago, after a cough/cold that lasted forever, I was left with a feeling that I constantly needed to clear my throat, sometimes a light cough. This came on the heels of a sore chest from coughing so hard. Complains to doc led to all kinRAB of heart tests $$$ all were negative. At the end, i still had the pain in my upper chest. Doc said to try aciphex sample but didn't take them. Insisted I didn't have any heartburn. Every once in a blue moon, I'd get nasty burp, burning throught but that was always temporary. Take a tums and no repeat.
Doc thought i might have gall stones (do men get that?). This turned out negative too, then they thought i had asthma. Not that either! After all the test I still had tightness in upper chest and finally took a aciphex. Withing 25 minutes it was gone. From that point I stated taking Omerprazol a couple times a week or as I felt I needed them. Usually never had the upper chest pain as bad as before but did get the throat clearing thing. Now, (after another long cold/bronchitis, i am left with the same feeling having to clear my throat all the time.
I'm taking an omaprazol every day, but it's annoying to constantly "ehhhmmmmm" (is that how you spell the sound of clearing throat?) Does anyone else have this. Oh, yeah, I'm fat, age 65, not in good overall physical shape and use a CPAP to sleep at night. (Just in case all that other stuff makes a difference)
