I have two daughters. I understand that means that I got an X chromosome from my husband.

Has he passed down any genetic traits from his father's side of the family or did his X gene carry only things from his mother's side? (ie. if his father's side has a history of cancer, can this be genetically passed down to my daughters?) Thanks.

there are 23 pairs of chromosomes in the human genome
only ne of these pairs effects sex
therefore the other 22 pairs will have one chromosome being from you and one from your husband (this could be from his mother oor his father or even a mixture due to chromosomes crossing during meiosis)

not the daughters, but if you get a son, it will be passed down to the boy since it's from his father's side, it will be found in the Y chromosome. unless his mum have the same histpry then it'll be passed down to the daughters through the X chromosome, it should be safe for the girls if it's only from his fathers side though.
