Generic account on the School Network system?

Hey there.

Please help me out:

The school has system has opened a generic account for any student to enter the network system. All students know the password and username to this account. They can use the internet through this account. Anyone can delete the files and rearrange them.

I was able to figure out the disadvantages. What are the advantages f this generic student account?
