So, as I was reading my chemistry book, it said that sigma bonds (present in single bonds) are stronger than pi bonds (present in double bonds). I had assumed that with high bond strength, comes higher stability.
However, later on in the chapter, the book mentions that single bonds are less stable than multiple bonds because single bonds have a higher bond length. So I was just wondering how to determine the stability of a compound in terms of bond energy/strength and bond length?? Please helppp. Thanks in advance!
