Basically, my question's in the title, but I'll provide some context.
Me and my best friend are very very close. I'm gay, he's straight. I told him I'm gay about three months ago... We're closer than ever, because he knows he knows everything about me now, and so he is much much more open in return. We're very open with each other in general.
I avoid discussing anything 'gay' with him though. Aside from coming out to him first, and a separate conversation where he tried to figure out my idea of a perfect boyfriend, we don't really talk about anything relating to the issue. I don't tell em when I'm interested in someone. I don't tell him what I'm afraid of. I don't talk to him about dealing with coming out to the few remaining people that don't know. Even though I want to do all of these things.
My thinking is, he's straight. He's inherently... not going to be totally at ease with the topic. He's told me he isn't bothered by it... But I think he's just trying to be a supportive friend. I don't think there's any situation he'd WANT to talk about it.
So... do you talk about any gay/relationship/dating topics with straight male friends? Do you avoid it as well? Should I be?
