Gay Correction Camps...................?

I seen an episode of south park about how they thought BUTTERS was "BI-CURIOUS" and so they sent him off to this GAY CORRECTION CAMP, where they try to turn everyone there straight.

Well i was wondering, are there really places that parents send their kids to become straight. Is it just church camp or what...I DONT KNOW. And if so...how sad. All gays should see that episode its pretty good, even for SOUTH PARK!
Does anyone know a link to photos or a video of these places...................ALSO....OPRAH should do an episode on these.
 
Sort of... they do have ex-gay "retreats," and while that's normally for adults, I know people who have been shipped off to Mormon country against their will by their parents for ex-gay "therapy". There are certainly lots of "counselors" who will try and make kids ex-gay for their parents, even though such practices are deemed ineffective and dangerous by the American Psychological Association.
 
There really are places like that, sadly. What they don't tell ya is how high their suicide rates are!! :@)
 
YEs, there are fundamentalist ex-gay camps. I watched a documentary of the regular die-hard camps and it scared the hell out of me. If they can do that to their straight little (5 years old and up) kids what would they do to kids who were gay??? That is child abuse but because it is run by a church no one will do any thing about it..
Look at what happened to the mormon children that were taken from their crazy polygamous families. They're back again. No one in power wants to interfere with the church.
 
There really are places like that and they're not just for kids. Adults go there as well thinking that they can be turned straight. I've never understood why anyone would think that it was a good idea to send a bunch of openly gay people to a remote campsite to discuss their fantasies and experiences when it would probably present that only situation where they would be in a position to find community and be honest about who they are. I'm straight but I went to camp as a kid...I think we all know what goes on there. You can't change a persons sexuality anyway and if the religious think that God doesn't make mistakes and everything is part of his plan, I don't know why they would thnk that being gay was outside of that box.

There are such places and the people who run them claim to have a very high success rate, but there's actually no statistics about it. What these people don't realize is that this kind of "therapy" can do far more harm to people than good. If a person is naturally homosexual then no amount of "therapy" is ever going to change that.
 
Those places - and yes, they do really exist - are an abomination to humanity. When you clear out all the political babble, these "gay correction camps" are pretty much like the "internment" camps the U.S. government forced Japanese-American citizens into.

The worst part is, I don't think anybody knows how many kids have committed suicide as a result of being put in a place like that.

NO! One cannot "Change" Sexuality. Sexuality is how you are. Gays cannot go straight, I hate when people think that.

I feel sorry for some of the gay teens out there that have to put of with the crap that the parents make them go through to make them straight. Those counselors are BS, they think they have the power to make gay people straight........
