I saw this when it first came out, but watching it again on FilmFour last night reminded me what a really  movie this is. I must remember to get the dvd.
wonder why apparently it didnt do too well at the box office, I think it's definitely underrated.
favourite quote: "I never saved anything for the swim back"

oh and Anton sucks.

GATTACA is a good movie, but is a little sterile in parts. All three of the main actors put in great performances. Best quote has to be Xander Berkley's: "For future reference, right handed men don't hold it with their left... just one of those things... " Comedy Gold :D

I LOVE this film - one of my favourites. Michael Nyman who composed the music said he made the music incredibly emotional on purpose and was asked to to counteract the sterility wanted from the rest of the film.

I think it really works cos the emotion builRAB up through tension.

Just for the record, I know the film was meant to be sterile (gosh I should know seeing that I should be doing a degree in Film Studies this year :D), I was just explaining that it was probably the reason why it wasn't a huge success at the box-office. The trailer made the film look more dull that it really was!

Another sci-fi film that didn't do well box office wise because of the 'sterile effect' was Dark City (1998) with Keifer Sutherland and William Hurt - I'd recommend it if you haven't seen it :)

Dark City did have a good storyline, but ended up looking too much like the last Hellraiser film, which was a pale imitation of the original trilogy

Gattaca is one of my favourite ten films.
