Does gastritis ever go away? My endoscopy revealed i had this and i am wondering if you have it for life. My GI doctor never mentioned this but a friend's GI doctor told him this. Does taking a PPI help it get better or is it just a band aid? I know that tomato based sauces make it flare up for days afterward. Is that normal? Should i be feeling constant pain in my left abdomen for days after eating pasta sauce or pizza with red sauce? Will i ever be able to eat those fooRAB again without these consequences? I'll be fine for days, but then i will eat something that may not even be a big trigger and i will be in pain constantly in that left side. It is painful to move that area and talk and i get shortness of breath. My heart feels panicky too. Is this a normal symptom of gastritis? It beats so fast in the night after tomato sauce meals it is like it is anxious and tingly.

Thanks

Usually, gastritis does improve. Mine hasn't, but I'm currently exploring Why Not.

The PPI sometimes helps. If you take it for 1-2 months, that sometimes allows a damaged stomach to heal. After taking it, you should taper the dosage in some fashion, such as one day on, one day off.
