i recently purchased a 1995 tahoe and the mileage and performance is about what i expected. it only has 138,000 which i consider low mileage for a vehicle of that year, and im getting 14 MPG on average. just wondering about things like the performance chips that are supposed to increase miles per gallon and also power. do they really work? any benefits from installing a K and N filter? or changing exhaust? i plan on driving this vehicle atleast the next 10 years and i dont mind spending some money now if it saves me money in the long run. i only drive to work and back, average mileage i put on is maybe 5,000 miles a year. i have already put on new tires and shocks because they seemed worn, not going to face a bad winter with worn tires.
and the first person that answered saying a tahoe falls apart around 100,000 miles must be an idiot. the chevy tahoes and suburbans are well known to last an easy 300,000 miles with not much more than just routine maintenance.
