I was driving yesterday at around 100 to 120 km/h, and my gas gauge suddenly started dropping fast and I had just filled up the day before. When I started to slow down, the gauge started to rise again...what is going on? Could it be a partly blown fuse or something? Any help would be appreciated!
Also, I don't think that I am losing gas, as when I slow down, the gauge goes right back to the top where it should be....strange!

Gas Gauges constantly go out, especially on Toyotas, you may also have a crack in your gas tank, and you might be losing gas.

Hope this helps..

Pull the rear seat bottom out of the car, remove the fuel pump/ fuel gauge ending unit cover and check for broken or corroded wires at the fuel pump unit. If everything looks good you probably have a bad sending unit for the fuel gauge. It's incorporated with the fuel pump. You can take the fuel pump unit out and manually work the sending unit float while watching the gauge with the ignition on. Make sure the gauge works and watch for it to cut out as you work the float up and down.
