gas gage don't work on used jeep i recently purchased?

i just bought this 1997 jeep wrangler and found out the hard way that the gas gauge doesn't work. i was wondering how much it would cost to fix it if i couldhave someone other than a body shop to do it. also, about how many miles can i travel before i run out of gas?
 
lol....any shop can fix this.....its just a matter of having the sending unit replaced....normally....honestly tho every jeep wrangler/cj i have dealt with have had fuel sending unit problems...the cj5 in my yard gauge doesn't work on...... i haven't bothered to replace the sending unit simply cas i don't drive it or have it insured at this point....


btw you can do it ureself with a little work........just buy the part ....drop the tank and swap the old part for the new 1....not that hard just aggravating dealing with the gas.......good luck
