Gardening question; I have tall privacy bushes and enough space?

to plant some type of grass that does not require much up keep it's shaded but I need the access to get underneath the house in case of emergancy. I have stepping stones there what could i use for grass that is attractive low maintaince
no ground cover it spreads and creeps into bushes etc low maintainence grass thnks
 
Would you consider a groundcover instead? Mazus reptans is a steppable groundcover that grows in sun and shade. You will never have to mow and it is much more interesting than grass -- you can get one that blooms blue or one that blooms white.
