I was weeding my garden yesterday, pulling out dandelions along the edges of the rows. I pulled up a dandelion with full root intact, and attached to the root were about 20 clearish white larvae- very small and almost tear drop shaped with teeny little legs. About 10 other dandelions that I pulled up also had these tiny little bugs attached to their roots.
Does anyone know what these might be? I do have ants in my garden (harmless little black ants- not carpenters or fire ants), but I don't know if these are ant larvae or not. I have a feeling it is something else and it would be very helpful if someone could let me know what they might be so I can remedy the situation before it becomes a problem.
If helpful, I live in southwest Minnesota. Dandelions are the primary weed in my garden. Thanks--
