hi, we woke up this morning to find our fence panels literally split in two and the sandstone wall has fell down.. taking a bit of our garden with it (what a day for this to happen!!) our house is built on a hill so the sandstone wall is shoring up all of our garden basically, it's a 6ft wall and our garden is level with it, hence the need to add a further concrete and wood pannelled fence, we have tried to secure it best we can, but we can't realistically get anything done till next week!! ...I am just wondering if our house insurance will cover the cost.. everyone seems a bit pessimistic and says not??? (aaargggh!!) any ideas please? thanks xx

It's not very often that fences and walls are included in the insurance but the best thing to do is to either read your policy book or ring up your insurance company and they will tell you. Some companies DO cover walls . I just can't believe that you are having yet more problems. Glad it's not the bathroom wall though. Good luck with this xx

depends on your cover... if you do claim for it, well you might get a rise in your premiums next year.

me I'm fitting some garden fence tomorrow maybe that has fallen down.

Personally I don't claim for anything major if I can fix it myself or know someone who can, as I know the insurance people will add more on to any policy.

If it was caused by wind for example, and your insurance policy does NOT have a "natural disaster" exclusion (that means they will not pay for something that nature caused) then it might pay for it. However if it simply happened cause it was "time" for it to go.. NO, not possible. Hope this is more help that just "no" lol, good luck

I think it would depend on the coverages in your policy, and also why the retaining wall failed. If you were in the belt that rec'd all that rain this last week, and that was what caused it, then its possible that it would be covered. Only thing to do is call your insurance company or look at your policy to see what is/is not covered.

Good luck!

Unfortunately I don't think it will izo, as it's not part of the main building but I hope I'm wrong... It is wild here and my fence might be going the journey if it keeps up! Good luck ;-)
