I Want To See This Movie So Badly ! But Its Not out in my theatre, so I gotta wait till it comes out on video =( no fair lol
 
I just got back from seeing this movie with my mom, and we both loved it! I knew it was going to be good, but I didn't think it was going to be this good. I also loved the music, must get the soundtrack soon!

I was surprised in the sense of at least Natalie Portman for BSA, Drama and Zach Braff for BD, Drama...

However, the film is not as "life alterning" as a lot of people claim. It is a good film, but as I stated earlier, it is mostly for generation-Y and deals with some pretty cliche stuff (going off anti-depression medication; the whacky girlfriend; the domineering dad, etc) when you get right down to it.

One can say all films deal with cliched subjects.... True... But with Garden State it is like people are championing this film like it is some truly original, Earth-shatting film making when all it is a decent first effort by Zach Braff and the cast and wasn't funded by a mainstream, Hollywood studio is all.

The movie is good... But be warned this is a "mainstream independent" movie in that if you are just a casual viewer of indie movies this will suit your tastes and you can consider it an "indie".

For more experienced palletes like Mukooh and myself... It is still a good movie, but not ground-breaking or life altering by any means (at least if you are over 30, no offense).

Natalie Portman is the stand-out in the cast next to Peter Saarsgaard as you like the character of Sam, but hate Saarsgaard's character in a lot of respects for what he is/isn't (once you see the film you'll understand).

Anyway, my point is not to deter you from renting or buying the film.

I am just giving what I think is an alternate perspective on the film to coincide with others opinions :)
 
I just got back from seeing the movie and I really liked it. I can't wait to get the soundtrack. It was funny when New Slang and Caring s Creepy and Let Go started up in the film...I got really excited. Good Movie.
 
the only thing i didn't like or just found it wierd...was how they changed the the bathtub of Sam being so close to Andrew..then a split second later...she's leaning on the back of the tub..just b4 she goes to take a hair from his eye. that scene was in the deleted scenes..but it had a better transition. u all know what i'm talking about? :look:
 
Recently watched my DVD again and this film remains incredible, one that will definitely stand the test of time. The soundtrack is also amazing, listen to it constantly. :)
 
The whole movie was amazing, of course, I'm a little bias, because I'm from the garden state. :)

I loved this movie, definately one of my favorites
 
Ditto to both. I saw it twice and just got the soundtrack. It will forever be in rotation on my new mini iPod.

Portman definetly shined in this film...every smile and innocence just pulled my heart into her.

my fav' scene is the bathtub scene, closely followed by the "but i like you" tapping scene

not to mention, amazing music
 
Yeah, finally managed to track down the soundtrack and I've seen the movie twice now. Amazing is really about all you can say. I loved it. A lot.
 
I ended up liking this movie a lot. I thought it was just going to be a "Graduate" ripoff (and it times it was). But the movie really does find it's own voice.



That bugged me too.

I still have mixed feelings about the ending. There are good arguments for both sides. Regardless of where Large ended up. I hope he found a good therapist.
