Garden State

Just been to a preview of Garden State, written and directed by Zach Braff of Scrubs fame.

Forget your blockbusters, for me this is what films are about, thought provoking and moving.

Have a few quid on Natalie Portman nominated for best actress at the Academy awarRAB as well.

I'd well recommend it, if you like loud explosions lame dialogue and driving rock and pop soundtracks, stay well away....

i'm really looking forward to this film.the trailer makes it look beautiful and i think zach braff is a very talented performer

I have read a few different dates on the release, but the most deffinate was the one I saw on Joanthan Ross' Film 2004 page on the BBC a few months back...

Garden State release date in the UK - Dec 10th!

Crikey, that's a week Friday! It's come around SO quickly! Have read MANY reviews for this film, and it looks to be brilliant. It has gone down very well in other countries, so fingers crossed for a successful time in the UK.

As a UK fan of Zach, I only got to know him from watching 'Scrubs', therefore I am looking particularly forward to seeing him act on the big screen - not that I doubt that he can act just as well in GS, it's just that after seeing him in a comedy such as 'Scrubs' where he so brilliant plays the character of 'JD', it will be great to see making the move to playing a more serious role. I've not seen his past projects as, like I said, I only got to know him from 'Scrubs', so I can't wait to see him playing a different character.

Just come back from seeing a preview of it and all I can say is "wow!". What a lushous and textual movie! Without wishing to put too many tags on it, it reminded me of 'Lost In Translation', but with a little more ... bite (?). Zach Braff and Ian Holm are brilliant, but I have to agree that Natalie Portman makes the biggest impact in what is surely her finest role since Leon.

This is one of those films that you wish wouldn't succeed, merely because you want it all to yourself and would hate for it to be ruined by the hype machine (thinking 'Donnie Darko'). Highly recommended!

As a real fan of Zach Braff in the UK, I have the R1 DVD on Pre-Order and have seen it online (;)), I have to say I'm soooo desperate to see this in cinemas, and will be going straight after work on Friday. The film looks like a moving piece of true genius.

tis a very good film, zach braff...whatever has done welll, only watched first seoson of scrubbs and his future after this is sorted in hollywood

I have heard so many good reviews about Garden State so I cant wait to see it. I think it will be a perfect antitode to all the big blockbusters and the Christmas films around this time of year!

I got to see this movie out of curiousty months and months ago, long before there was even a sniff of hype over here, and IMHO Garden State has to be one of THE best films of the year ( even though the ending could have been a bit stronger ). It makes my top ten with extreme ease.

A soundtrack hasn't fitted a film this well since High Fidelity. It really is a stroke of genius. The whole thing is so smooth it's amazing.

The script is beautiful, the acting is so natural, just brilliant.

I (sadly) haven't seen a trailer or anything like that of this film but, my friend has been making such a fuss about it that I just had to read up on it on IMDB, everyone seems to have the same opinion ie. Natalie Portman is wonderful and deserves an Oscar, some went as far as saying it deserved the best screen play and (i think) director awarRAB.

Being a die hard fan of Zach and scrubs, I was scared that this film will tank beyond his wildest dreams as most TV actors don't do well in films, but I was quite relieved to read that it was number one in the indie film chart and it grossed up to $26,602,516 which is quite good for an indie film, I can't wait to see it when it comes out. :)

TERRIFIC.

Just got back from watching it at the cinema - I've had to wait 12 months to find my favourite film of the year... DELIGHTFUL!

Both Zach and Natalie deserve wonderful praise for this movie.

I can't wait to see this film. I love Beautiful Girls and have heard this film is along the same lines/theme. Plus i think Zach Braff is showing a lot of promise in many ways.

Only downside is that this film has has a limited release in th UK. All my local/nearest cinemas (all 5 of them) are not showing it, so i have pre-ordered the R1 DVD.

Roll on the 28th December!

Nathalie Portman is just luminous in this film. It's great!! I haven't enjoyed a love story like the one in this film since Before Sunrise!! Oh and the soundtrack does what a soundtrack should!

R1 is out 28/12/04.

R2 has not been announced yet but i would guess it will be released around May/June/July/August.

(infact PlayUSA are shipping R1 already, mines on order at dvRABoon and its still listed as a preorder)

Yeah playusa dispatched mine last friday. Hopefully get here soon. Missed it in the cinema and i cant wait 2 see it
