Garden Problems about grass?

I've had enough to grass growing outside on my lawn. Are there any chemicals I can use to completely obliterate grass and her mundane relatives such as weeds etc. Or what can I do to get rid of this grass once and for all and what is the quickest way to do this. My idea is to make the land completely infertile. So any ideas?
