Having just laid garden membrane and covered it with gravel, we have just read the packaging and it says it should be laid shiny side up, which we haven't done. Know it sounds like a silly question but to save us doing the job all over again, has anyone any idea why this is? I can see no reason for it other than maybe making the gravel or soil easier to spread. I can't see it affecting the job it's supposed to do of stopping the weeds coming through. We really don't fancy re-doing it!
