ganglion cyst

chief calm down

I was diagnosed with a ganglion cyst over a year ago. I had it drained in June of 08 and it returned in its full size exactly 7 days later. I knew the chance of reoccurance was 50%. I had it surgically removed last August. Yep...you got it. It's back. I have noticed in the past week or so that it is back. Has anyone had that happen? I am wondering if I just should live with it or go back to the doctor. I have a little bit of discomfort and sometimes numbness. Any suggestions?

Hi Jdm1, I had one of those on my wrist. I looked funny because it looked like I had 2 wrist bones. My dr had said it would go away on its own and most likely from my sewing, I enjoy doing embroidery but true to form, it did go away. I just had to stop my embroidering for a bit. It has never returned and I still do embroider. Hope that helps. :)

Hi there
When I was younger I had 2 ganglions surgically removed from my ankle and one from near my knee..also I had one on my wrist but that one went away by it self...where is yours and also I think age has something to do with them and sports do you do a lot of activity I was heavily into ice skating as a youngster thats probably what caused mine..

Hi

I have one on my left wrist also. Because its on a vein they can't drain it, or would prefer not to.
I have heard that a good knock on it can burst it. Even the doctor said about bashing it with a hard back book makes the cyst disperse by all accounts in a lot of cases anyway.
