from my point of view, unless the game runs multi-core, quadcore isnt gonna help much. cos if the game runs single core, a processor for higher speed is required for the game.
Example: a Game requires 3.0GHz
but u get a 2.3 GHz Quad core....in single core its definitely not fast enough.
Even with multicore, it still means that the more actions in the game are processed at the same time but still at the same speed.
For Suggestions, i go for Intel Core 2 Duo(Personal Interest + comments from internet)
Performance in the Multi Core series in the Processor War.. i heard AMD isnt at superior as Intel(No offense to AMD lovers, thats what i heard) and has dropped its standards. (I did wanted to try it too but i heard it heats up quickly so i hold onto the idea.)
