Gamecube games on Wii?

How do Gamecube games on the Wii work? Can you plug a GC controller right into your Wii? Do you have to use a GC controller for GC games? Are GC and Wii games the same (small) size discs?

Any info is appreciated. I want to get Windwaker again when I do get a Wii.
 
AFAIK you need either a GC controller or a classic controller 'mote attachment to play the GC games. GC controllers plug straight-in to ports on top of the Wii.

You put the gamecube games in the same disk slot as you would put Wii games in. Although the Wii disks are larger.

Also, save games at the moment can only be saved on the GC memory cards, but hopefully they will create functionality to save them straight to the Wii/SD cards in the future. The GC Memory cards also have ports on top of the Wii.
 
Wait so the classic controller would work perfectly for GC games?... I want to sell and get rid of my gamecube and the controllers and just keep a few of the games.
