game display problem...help?

hi...i have the ati 512mb video card in my notebook..when i click to play midtown madness2..intially the screen goes wierd i mean it turns into black than it got zoomed..icons on the desktop got arranged randomlly..it happens for 30 sec but after that game runs smoothly..but please help why intially the desktop goes made when i click on the game icon....please help
