Gallstones?

I'm 22 years old, and ever since I was roughly 12 years old, I've had these stomach aches. It starts out as a faint but noticeable ache in the upper center part of my abdomen, right between my ribs. When I was younger they were very infrequent, like maybe even once a year or couple of years, and the faint ache would progress to an uncomfortable squeezing ache that would last for hours and no matter what I did I couldn't get comfortable. I went to the doctor once and he prescribed me something for acid reflux, which never really helped. within the last couple of years they've become more frequent, in fact almost every couple of months or weeks. Now that I'm older I've realized that they usually occur after I eat something (especially if it's something fatty) and they still last literally hours, 5,6, even 10 hours. I've never thrown up from them but it is such a constant uncomfortable pain. A couple of months ago i had an attack and went to the doctor a few days later (the soonest i could) and he wanted me to get an ultrasound, but that wasnt for about anohter week and they did not find any stones, which confused me. he told me the next time I got on attack to come back to the doctor and they would do blood work. about a week ago I started feeling an attack come on (after I ate something around midday) and it was an attack, although it didnt get as bad as they usually do and it went away by the time I went to bed that night. but the next day i could tell it was still lingering, and after eating (i didnt eat until lunch time) it slowly came back. same thing, didnt get as bad, went away by bed time, but the next day it came back again, and by evening time it got incredibly uncomfortable so that even when i walked i had to hunch over, and breathing was a little painful, and if i touched right under my right ribcage it was fairly painful, same when i breathed deep. I think it was the worst one Ive had so far, and Ive never had it linger for more than one day before. But i did not have time to go to the doctor, i wish i had made time for it though. I've done a lot of research and am fairly convinced it's stones, but I dont understand why the ultrasound didnt find any...so I'm just curious about what anyone thinks...also why I would have them at such a young age, if that's what it is?

I know someone who had her gb out at 16 because of stones. So, it's not uncommon in young people considering the fatty diet we eat. If there are no stones, it could also be caused by a low functioning gb. A HIDA Scan is the test for that. If a blood test shows an elevated bilirubin, I would definitely get an ultrasound and a HIDA Scan.
