About 30 years ago I saw a large format (maybe about 8.5" x 11") paperback book (I forget the title) that was a fiction (but it was written as though it were an application to emigrate from the Earth) about the human race colonizing other planets that were suitable for life. In the course of exploration, we encountered a few other benign alien species, so we formed the Galactic Association for Intelligent Life (that is about the only phrase I remember from the book). Does anyone know anything about this book? Thanks.
