seperate states.? Ok, so here it is. My parents are both divorced, one lives in Ohio, the other in Arizona. For the past two years I have lived in Ohio and will be graduating from an Ohio high school in a couple of months. I wish to gain residency and In-state tuition in Arizona for either U of A or ASU.
My parent in Ohio has already filed their income tax return claiming me as a dependent, however the one from Arizona has yet to file.
The question is if he files his income tax return in Arizona and declares me as a dependent also, even though he will not get the money back would it be enough to declare residency in Arizona? They usually switch off years as to who files first, this year just happens to be my mothers year and she has already filed. usually visit him every 2 weeks and for holiday vacations, etc.
I am going to run it my the Office of Registrar, but wanted to see if somebody could clear it up for me first.
