rabroad needs to create it's own version of the contest.
What is the Ugly PD cover contest? It's an annual competition originally intending (and still somewhat true to it's original intent) to parody the hackjob covers of unlicensed, public domain videos, DVDs and Blu-ray discs of public domain cartoons at GAC (not the country cable channel, but the cartoon website for classic animation buffs). These covers are spoofs of the low-budget public domain releases of UAV, Goodtimes/Kids Klassics, Alpha Video, etc. They also include PD-esque covers of official releases, which allthough they look like they came from the studios that own the cartoons, they are more hackjobs with it's art.
They usually include funny jokes on the cartoons themselves, how cheap the videos are, the disclaimers they put, what they contain, the details (mispellings of titles, sometimes bugs and logos they print on the cover, etc.)
Here's some examples of entries for this contest:
http://www.goldenagecartoons.com/uglypd/contest7/
And some real-life examples of ugly PD covers:
Most of them, are from the VHS era.
But why can't rabroad do an ugly PD cover contest? Come on, we got to do contests that are laugh-out-loud funny.
