I will be graduating in a year and a half from a private college in New York with a degree in Psychology and Criminal Justice (maybe a minor in Forensic Psychology if I am feeling randy)...I (being the worrier that I always am)am worried about find a job as soon as I graduate. Will there be an abundance of jobs in the field (town, city, county*, state)? Will I find myself waiting around a year or more for areas to open up?

I don't want to have to continue with my part time after college...I want to start my life...

I do have many more questions but I will start with these...

To get hired in any form of law enforcement, whether its municipal, state, or federal is very time consuming. All agencies have a very in depth hiring process, which includes a background investigation. With your degree I would suggest federal agencies, such as FBI, ATF, or Secret Service. I know state, county, and municipal law enforcement agencies across the country are slowing down with hiring, to include forcing active members to take furlough days. A result of current economic times. This is why I suggested the feds first, plus their hiring process is longer. Might as well get started right away.
