Without making this too long....I am 30 years old, have had 3 back surgeries (I am fused at the L5-S1). I have been in constant pain for 10 years and even after my last surgery (in 2004) I am unable to stand or do any activity for more than 15 minutes without terrible pain.

I am interested in a doctor in my area that does a new back surgery involving some type of spring used. Is it possible for my fusion to be undone on purpose to have another surgery?

Thanks everyone :)

A spinal fusion uses the hardware and bone fragments/protein to create one solid region. This provides stabilization and is not reversible. So if you are fused L5-S1 that is now one permanent fusion and can not be undone. Many people say they wish there had been Artificial Disc technology years ago when they had fusion surgery but once you've been fused you can't be unfused.
