Fusion pain?

I had a lower lurabar spinal fusion op with instrumentation in February of this year. I am now experiencing bouts of bad pain in the same area. An X ray suggests that there is nothing untoward going on.

Can a fusion cause pain even though nothing shows on the X ray?

Sure it can. Have you had an MRI? That will give a better picture and that may show why you are having issues.

Will it necessarily show up on an MRI. I was thinking of paying for one myself if the hospital dont want to do one.
