further ruining an otherwise intolerable life

Ok, my life is only a a little tolerable. My dad is a pothead but won't let me smoke, I'm 17 without a drivers license (yet) and I'm failing high school. Other than these *minor* annoyances, my life's ok.

Then shit starts happening. This friday is my class ring ceremony. I, having lost my job back in November of last year, have WAY not paid it off yet. I have to fork over the difference before the ceremony, and the new job I got (Quizno's, easy as hell and we smoke weed after work) doesn't pay until friday. Major problem.

This ring ceremony is the source of a lot of problems, as I have to have someone present me my ring. Normally, it's a sibling or a girlfriend (which I am without). So I'm looking for a person to give me my ring. My sister lives in Georgia (I live in Louisiana), so she's out. Minor problem.

One of my best friends, Elliot, has just recently had a mean breakup with a girl in our circle of friends. She happens to sit next to me in Chemistry class, so she ends up confiding to me about how angry/sad/upset she is on the latest developments. Both parties want me to take their side in the arugement, and the girl, Emily, happens to be hitting on me pretty hardcore (I think). Like, drawing hearts on my arms, giving me presents, writing me notes, etc. Of course, not having much experience in the field of girls, I'm not absolutely sure what to do in this situation. Major friendship vs. relationship problem.

Yesterday, the school office called me and told me that I had to fill out a form naming my presenter and such for the ring ceremony. I, in a bit of a rush, wrote Emily a note telling her that I kinda thought she liked me but wasn't sure if I was just a rebound from Elliot (she really liked him), and that I needed to fill out the form and she had offered to present to me. The form, however, had a place for "relationship to presenter" and I didn't know what to put, so, as she was leaving Algebra II, another class we have together, I gave her the aforementioned note. I had included my phone number in case she wanted to talk but I didn't get a call.

Thusly, I am dreading next hour (Chemistry), and I'm otherwise conflicted and confused.

If anyone can give me a spot of advice on this subject, it would be greatly appricated. I know this is really childish and catty, but I really would like some help. Thanks.

Work on getting your ring. Don't let those 2 drag you into ther dramatization of a past relationship. I would say choose a random person that you talk to on a casual note everyday. That will shock both of them and you MAY just develop a healthy friendship or relationship.

well it appears i was entirely wrong as to whether Emily liked me. like... way wrong. so now that part of my problem is solved, but my ring problem is still an issue. Oh well. I tried.
